Ford calls for Fleadh rethink
Justice Minister David Ford has called for the Ulster Council to review the decision not to hold next year's All Ireland Fleadh in Derry.

I have spoken to the police and any security concerns around an event such as the Fleadh can be managed. I hope cool heads will reflect and change this decision.

He said: "If security is the reason for the Comhaltas Ulster Council's decision on the All-Ireland Fleadh as reported, I would join the calls for them to review it.
“Northern Ireland is open for business - for the Titanic Centenary, the Irish Open Golf, the city of culture, festivals and other major events.
"While we still face a security threat, this decision is out of all proportion and sends the wrong message.
“I have spoken to the police and any security concerns around an event such as the Fleadh can be managed. I hope cool heads will reflect and change this decision.
“The PSNI District Commander has indicated that he would welcome the opportunity to discuss any concerns, regarding security, with the organisers.
"Northern Ireland has made remarkable progress over the past decade and will continue to do so."
