The following consultations are currently active:
  • Future Regulation Of The Private Security Industry

    The Department of Justice is seeking views on how the private security industry in Northern Ireland should be regulated in the future. The consultation also considers whether the practice of vehicle immobilisation (wheel clamping) on private land should be banned in Northern Ireland.

  • Provision of Community Impact Assessments

    On 12 January 2012, the Department of Justice published a report that examined the provision of Community Impact Assessments and identified possible options for Northern Ireland. The Department would encourage all those who have an interest in giving local communities a greater voice in the criminal justice process to respond to this consultation.

  • Consultation on legislative amendments and Department of Justice engagement in relation to Human Trafficking

    In March 2011, the UK signed up to the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings. The UK already complies with a number of requirements relating to legislation and law enforcement, however the Department of Justice in Northern Ireland must now introduce a number of legislative amendments to ensure full compliance. This consultation invites comments on these amendments

  • Consultation on the Future Operation of the Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland

    In light of the recent focus on the Office of the Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland (OPONI), and a series of reports reviewing various aspects of its operation, the discussion paper examines key issues which have emerged as important considerations about how OPONI should operate in the future.

  • Disability Action Plan 2012-2015 Consultation

    We believe that the involvement of people with disabilities in the development of this Action Plan is essential to its success. To this end we have undertaken pre-consultation with staff and groups representing people with a disability to obtain their views.
