Consultation on proposals to introduce a recovery of defence costs scheme
The Department of Justice is carrying out a consultation on Recovery of Defence Costs Orders (RDCOs).
The consultation document seeks views on the proposals but is particularly interested to receive views on specific aspects of the proposals. These are-
- Whether assisted persons, who can afford to contribute to the costs of their defence representation, be required to do so;
- Whether the proposed rules will have any impact on access to justice;
- The views on the proposed circumstances in which an RDCO should not be made.
